Do you think that you can form real frienships/relationships

with people online?

What are your experiences?

Do you consider your online friendships/relationships to be 'real' ?

BTW I am not having digs or putting anyone down, I am interested in what experiences that people have had online.

Yes. And certainly they're real.

Friends are people who you enjoy spending time with, and offer help and/or friendly criticism about you. Isn't that what we all do here? (Well, except for people who only pop in long enough to post a troll or drop a flame bomb-- but there are people like that in physical life, too).

It'd be nice to physically touch cyber-friends. I've met a few of them and find that they're a lot like the way they are online. Not meeting them is definitely a lack.

Sarah's oyster visits me a lot at night, though.

I like to think I've developed some good friendships over the years.

I've developed a 'real' friendship with a few people from online, and I consider them real friends.

i can't tell the difference, can you tell the difference?

i've had an absolute hoot with my on-line friends and oddly enough, my "real" [?] friends are evolving into online friends, too. instead of calling, we email each other.

it is possible.
but its also possible to get sucked in and get your life messed up to.

Like in real life you just have to be selective.

Yes, I consider my online friends real friends. I get together with some every May and we have a ball. I know I could count on them to help me out if I needed it. They are supportive when I need it and funny and kind. I'm there for them as well.

In fact, they actually have helped me out in the past. A couple years ago my elderly aunt was caught in Florida during the massive hurricanes. She was evacuated and I was trying to find her. My mom was frantic. Pilvikki's daughter actually found me the only working telephone in the state! I spoke to a lovely woman there who reassured us as to the evacuation. We finally spoke with my aunt 2 days later.

My closest friends do not come online, my sister Sandra and my adopted sis Gill do, and we have a laugh.

I do consider some people from online as true friends :) but tend to hold back a bit as 'once bitten twice shy'.

I don't mean to insult anyone...but I don't believe in it anymore. It is too easy to deceive online...too easy to hide behind the computer.

For me, personally, I have not had good experiences with it. I won't put myself in that situation again. Although I do have some online buddies who I very much admire and value them.

I feel that I love a few people on here. We can get on, fall out...generally do everything you could do in real life. Just, less ties!

You know who you are!
