Is love ever unconditional?

I think so, when it comes to family. Theres a bond that cant be broken.

And when it comes to animals, my wee pup loves everyone unconditionally

I've loved someone unconditionally before.

I think it is Gill, When you love someone it's not an emotion/feeling you can control, it's just there and no matter what you do to stop that feeling it never goes away (whilst the 'good' is there anyway)

When things go wrong, marriage break down, trust broken, being put down, let down etc etc then the love you had starts to diminish, again, it's not something you can control.

Love comes in many different forms, I'll never stop loving my children, I'll never stop loving my family, I'll never stop loving jelly and ice-cream

my fiance...I'd like to think I'll never stop loving him but I guess the reality is, people change and if our relationship went belly up (for whatever reason) then I probably would, in time start to lose the love I feel for him... Don't think I'd ever get over him tho! :( (I know that sounds all mushy but you know what, I don't care! Lol)

Genuine love would be unconditional.
Unconditional love is given without expected favour in return.

If it isn't unconditional, then it is not love.

Unfortunately, "unconditional" love is a rare thing, in my opinion at least. I don't honestly believe that ANY human being is able to love unconditionally...with few exceptions: the love of a parent for a child is one that mainly comes to mind. I know that I love my own children beyond reason, and would continue to do so, no matter what they did. Also, I believe that the love of a child for his/her parents is unconditional, too...at least, it is until they grow up and finally realize that we're only human, after all...

...if you have two kids, and one killed the other before your eyes...would you stil love that kid? if yes, then that love is really uncondisional to the extreme.

I don't belive in uncondisional love, not totally. Somewhere, somehow there is allways something that can hamper or kill that love. what it is differs though, from the extreame example above to something as trival as dishes not taken at once.

I don't want to realize what could end my love for my mother, my sister and brother, my bf or best friend.

unconditional love can end just the same as any other kind. you just don't want to be there when it happens...
