China is getting a small amount of oil, compared to what the western oil companies will get. And i guarantee you right now that the western oil companies will get a huge slice of the oil pie. Exxon, BP and Shell are waiting for their share, it's been revealed that all three have drafted 30-year contracts to extract Iraqi crude. America and Britain will do very well out of this.

It's funny how China never had any real dealings with Iraq and now they're getting oil given as almost a gift. Especially after the draft was passed by the Dubya administration and the International Monetary Fund before China got anything. As you say, maybe a "thank you" for not getting involved. I don't think China will take a back seat with Iran though!

Now, could someone explain to me again how the Iraq war wasn't about oil?
