The Ohio Highway Patrol confirms a Texas family was killed in a plane crash in Bucyrus Sunday evening.

Authorities identified those killed as Paul Martin, 49, Lillian Martin, 45, and their children, Kitanna Martin, 10, and Shawn Martin, 11, all of Austin.

The family had been visiting relatives in Oklahoma and were flying to Searsmont, Maine, where they owned property, according to the patrol. All four were killed on impact.

"There's no indication they had any connection to Bucyrus or that they were landing or taking off from the Bucyrus airport," Lt. Chris Zurcher said.

Light rain and overcast skies were reported in the area when the crash occurred about 7:10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.

The single-engine plane came spiraling down at 7:10p.m., crashing in a field near the Indian Creek apartments and a nursing home. Investigators say debris spread everywhere causing some minor damage to the apartment building, but nobody on the ground was hurt.

Some people living in the apartment complex were evacuated. Some of them stayed at the Bucyrus YMCA Sunday night.

The FAA and NTSB are in Crawford County investigating the crash.

Bucyrus is about 60 miles north of Columbus.
