left handed women

Post by sooz »

A study suggests that women who are left-handed have a higher risk of dying, particularly from cancer and cerebrovascular disease - damage to an artery in the brain or an artery that supplies blood to the brain.

While it could be a chance finding and the evidence is far from conclusive, numerous reports have associated left-handedness with various disorders and, in general, a shorter life span.

Should all left handed women be worried?

I had a left handed friend who died at age 40 from a massive heart attack. She had also previously suffered from rheumatoid arthritis. I had certainly never made any connection with her being a lefty...

lefties are said to be enormously creative, but shortlived (about 5 years or so... ooh! big deal if you can even measure such) and better at multitasking if I am not mistaken... I might be though

i like to think i'm creative and artistic. i remember to make the irritation of being left-handed easier she would always point out "famous" lefties like Leonardo da Vinci, Marilyn Monroe and Sir Paul McCartney. nothing is more annoying that using a can opener or trying to measure wet ingredients into a glass measuring cup! you have to buy SPECIAL leftie stuff to make it easier. it's crazy. and annoying! *LOL*

oh, i know!!! GRRRRR!!!!! there is a specialty store in San Francisco on Pier 39, which is a total touristy place. my mom would take me there on special occasions or when family visited so that i could spend some of my hard earned money on things made specially for me.

the only thing i have to do right handed is cut paper. all those lost left handed scissors and my mother's refusal to buy more forced me to learn how to cut right handed! i cut hair left though.

i know! just yesterday i was reminded how annoying the "right handed world" is for me. i was using my father's coffeemaker and it's so totally not made for a lefty to use! i made a total mess because i couldn't read the numbers unless using my right hand.

grrrr!

due to my problems with my hands, i was trying to become ... hehe, sinister. that's when i discovered how bloody awkward using a lot of the every day items really is.

can opener? forget it, get electrical [and then find out that it won't work properly either way.] scissors? no way.

etc.

i cannot properly and easily operate an electrical can opener to save my life. why?

that is made for righties as well!!!! SERIOUSLY! it's like WTF?

every single appliance, utensil and useful invention is geared towards the right handed person. period. i've learned to mostly successfully adapt. it's a few things i can't manage to do well or properly!

do american tins not have ring pulls therefore alleviating the need for lecky openers?

i suggest getting a small right handed love slave who can do right handed things for you (and you can use them as a footstool)

As an aside, my ex was left handed and did everything left handed apart from  erm, how can i put this delicately, erm, well, you all know what i'm saying. Leftie boys... is this normal?

The term scientists use for your ex is 'ambisexual'.

I'm right handed and cannot for the life of all that's holy, operate an electric can opener. My son & hubby bought me one that's rechargable and really small and promised to be easy to use - Pffft! Not even close ... so I rarely open cans anymore. I call the fellas for any cans that need to be opened. Might as well make good use of 'em for SOMEthing worthwhile, eh?
