Dark Laptop

Postby bea » Sat Jul 07, 2007 6:05 pm

My friend has a laptop a Compaq Presario R3000. Its about 4 years old. A couple of days ago the laptop suddenly lost all brightness to the screen. You can still see everything and it works etc but its so dark. Almost like its shutting down.

He did have it plugged in for about and switched on for about 40 hours at some point last week whilst downloading some crap and I did tell him to turn it off but, due to him having a penis, he wouldn't listen. I'm now convinced that this is what has broke it. Please tell me i'm right. And if it can be fixed. Or is it just broken forever?

If you need any more info please let me know.

The backlight has obviously gone off, which is normally caused by the untimely death of the inverter, rather than a tube failure. I seem to recall that inverters are relatively cheap (you can probably pick one up for not much more than a tenner) but whether or not you could fit it yourself, I don't know. Personally, I'b probably pay a man, rather than start dismantling expensive laptops.
