Some interesting replies
I think that the replies dealing with the inherent nature of man are probably the most relevant ones
Unless we change our nature from competitive agressiveness to one of empathy and caring, we will never amount to much
If we are unable to live on a planet in harmony with each other and the environment how much less likely will we fare in a much more confined extremely long journey of exploration beyond the Solar system

There is of course the possiblity, that as the Solar system meanders thru the Galaxy, in the far distant future we may come closer to other stars and their planets, tho even then the question needs to be asked :"Will mankind survive that long?"
Somehow I doubt that
