I read this news report earlier and was shocked by these statistics. I find it hard to believe that whilst "The survey showed the vast majority of people in Scotland believe rape victims are never responsible for the crime 27% said if a woman was drunk she was partly to blame, while the proportion was 26% if the woman was wearing revealing clothing.
Almost a third - 32% - told researchers it was partly a woman's fault if she was flirting, while almost a fifth said she may be to blame if she has had many sexual partners.
Is it really true that if a woman is raped that she can held partly responsible because of what she was wearing or that she was flirting or had been drinking?
I think the results of this survey are truly shocking and can fully understand why women do not come forward to report a rape or sexual attack.
Are these findings typical? Surely not.
Shock over rape blame findings.
Shock over rape blame findings.

I think defenses do still try the old "she was asking for it because of what she was wearing" routine. But that was more the 70's type of trick, i think it's been largely ignored now as most women wear some sort of revealing outfit when going out. I mean you go out to attract the opposite sex, no use wearing a sack.
Weather or not a woman was flirting or has had many sexual partners does not mean she wants sex, and no reason whatsoever can be given for forcing someone to have sex against their will.
I bet the majority of the 27% of people who said the woman was partly to blame were men between the ages of 18-25 and very sexist. Thankfully the survey found that the vast majority of people in Scotland believe rape victims are never responsible for the crime.
There is also the flip side of this which i think is another contributing factor in why some women don't come forward after they've been raped, is the unscrupulous women who make false rape claims. They do so much damage to the already fragile self esteems of rape victims that i think tougher jail sentences should be given out if they're found to have made false claims.

The ignorant close their mind and convince themselves that there's only one truth. The wise keep an open mind to the different possibilities leading to and stemming from the present. Look not with your eyes but with your mind.
since rape is NOT a crime of sex, whatever she wears, or however she flirts, or however drugged, should automatically be irrelevant after she says NO!
if she can.
now, if two guys get into a fight, and one is too drunk to say pls stop!, is that a good excuse to assume the beating may continue until he'd dead? hey! he didn't tell me to stop, so that's concentual, right?
