How is this possible?

Here is a forum for those among us whose mind is cluttered with factoids that border on useless information. It is a place to obtain such information for future reference.

How is this possible?

Post by Sandra »

Professor claims to survive on just sunshine and fruit juice.

Michael Werner looks normal enough. He's six foot tall, grey and bespectacled, weighs in at 12-and-a-half stone and enjoys playing tennis, socialising and jogging - three brisk miles before breakfast with his wife Angelica, a nice fry-up for her and a quick coffee for him.

All very ordinary. It's just that Michael doesn't eat. At all.

Can this be true?

 I could never make it through those first 3 weeks, especially without any water the 1st week!
Hope for the best. Expect the worst. Life is a play. We're unrehearsed.

Exactly Sarah, they tell you you must drink water no matter what so the body doesn't dehydrate but he's saying you must do without it the 1st week and be in the right frame of mind, what is the right frame of mind? How can you do that, weird?

I know a couple of people who are following the 'air' diet! basically, they buy 'shakes' that have all the nutrition that you need and dont eat any solid food at all. They are not supposed to chew anything, as this takes in 'air'

Sounds stupid to me, but one girl lost 10lbs in her first week.

YIP, but most of that will be water. I dont think its healthy to lose that much in a week. Slow and steady, thats the way to lose weight if you need to.

there are people who are called "fruitarians" and they basically live off a small amount of fresh fruit, water and sunshine. then they are people who call themselves "breatharians" and they subsist [supposedly] on nothing but air and water.

i'm not sure how healthy it can be. i think a small water fast can be helpful and can speed a detoxification in the body. especially the gastrointestinal tract which if you are feeling sluggish and low on energy can help with that. it can cause some weight loss but that shouldn't be it's primary function.

most weight loss in the beginning stages can come off quite rapidly. water, fecal matter, toxicity from the body all gets expelled once you get the metabolism going and the body moving. if you don't have some kind of regular exercise then it will plateau out no matter how little you eat or drink. and whatever you do lose is basically water weight.

I've been on veggie diets, fruit diets, weight watchers (numerous times), slimming world and yes they do work to an extent, but the best form of dieting is exercise, I believe if you don't do it you can't lose weight. This guy is saying he doesnt' eat at all and stays the same weight and he is fit as fu*k, if I had the balls I'd prob give it a go

i'd love to know what kind of fruities he's munching for if he doesn't get any protein and oils, or there go the muscles and the brain...

when your body is deprived of nutrients, it goes into starvation mode and dumps the muscle, but keeps the fat for fuel. so basically you're thinner but even less healthy.

exercise is the answer to happy weightloss.

yeah right, i'll start tomorrow...
